About us

eduRoma is a non-governmental organization that seeks to contribute to creating an inclusive society in Slovakia. It brings alternative approaches to education of Roma children to both schools and other educational institutions, stimulating change in the stereotyped perception of Roma in the public sphere.

eduRoma carries out three types of initiatives:

  1. Field work in schools – teachers´ training, conflict mediation, and working with pupils, parents and other stakeholders;

  1. Promoting changes at the national level – bringing the field work experience to the national level, conducting monitoring and research of discrimination at schools;

  1. Removing stereotypes – producing media outputs, films and public campaigns.

eduRoma brings a unique perspective on various topics, combining its expertise in education and the authentic experience of eduRoma members with the situation of Roma pupils in the Slovak educational system. eduRoma and its members believe in partnership – convinced that change is viable only through the active involvement of all relevant stakeholders in the solutions or measures implemented. The activities of eduRoma are possible only thanks to an ever-growing network of local and international partners that allows for sharing of up-to-date information and trends in eliminating prejudice and discrimination.

Volunteer program:

eduRoma’s Volunteer Program suports children and youth from socially disadvantaged background in overcoming social exclusion through series of educational, cultural and sports activities. The aim of the Program is their gradual integration into mainstream society with dignity.
